Paul H. Sayles, BA, LVN reports working "at a facility where we used an electro-cautery machine. One feature of the machine was that it wouldn’t allow current through the probe if the patient ground wasn’t plugged into the machine. Bottom line – no ground, no power. This seems to me a forcing function that is used within the medical field. We were using this machine in the 1980s."
